The Escape
The ad by Nathaniel Richards about Ben appealed to me because it really portrayed the lengths that slaves would go to for freedom. Ben swam his way to freedom and left his clothes behind. The biases in the ad written by the slave owner affected my interpretation. Slaves were treated as objects, not people.
I used crayons, pastels, and watercolor. I blended them together to create the water and used crayon and pastel on everything else. I also used crayon and pastel to create texture on the trees.
