I chose this article about the mother stealing away her daughter because it really tugged at my heart. To me, it is a real tear-jerker because the mother is risking her own life for her daughter. The entire piece was completed with a #2 pencil. The left-behind sketch lines on the mother and daughter are supposed to show how there really is no difference between any human, whether they be black, white, or whatever. It shows that the whites were just enslaving everyday people. That's just totally wrong and disturbing. The mother risking her life for her child shows a great deal of love, loyalty, courage, mother/daughter affection, but also shows that no matter what, the mother would do absolutely everything to keep her child safe.
