An outdoor immersive theatrical performance at Washington Irving’s Sunnyside

After seven years of sold-out performances around the country, Brian Clowdus brings The Sleepy Hollow Experience to the home of the Legend with an immersive evening production of Irving’s most famous ghost story. Meet Ichabod Crane and Katrina Van Tassel, along with a certain headless Hessian, in the very place where the author imagined them. Follow the characters from scene to scene with live music and a little bit of mayhem. In a thrilling finale, see if you find out what really happens to Ichabod on the Sleepy Hollow Bridge.

Please note this is an immersive, traveling performance that requires walking and has no seating.

Can children attend The Sleepy Hollow Experience?

The Sleepy Hollow Experience is an all-ages show. Parental guidance is advised for light sexual innuendo and a handful of scares.

What is your weather policy?

The Sleepy Hollow Experience is held rain or shine. If you elect not to attend, your tickets are neither refundable nor exchangeable. In poor weather, ticket holders should consult local weather forecasts for their own area and make their own determination about whether to set out for the evening’s event.

An event may be canceled by Historic Hudson Valley if, in its sole judgment, extreme weather or other conditions could jeopardize the safety of visitors, volunteers, and staff. Generally, rain, snow flurries, or showers would not lead us to cancel, but extremely heavy rain, thunder, and lightning, very strong wind; blizzard conditions, heavy icing, or a prediction of such conditions could force us to do so. If Historic Hudson Valley determines that conditions warrant canceling an event, we will post a message on our website and voicemail and ask local radio stations to make an announcement.

Is the event wheelchair accessible?

The Sleepy Hollow Experience is handicapped accessible, as there are no stairs to negotiate throughout the event. However, it is a walk-through experience along uneven, unpaved terrain with graded inclines and declines.

Handicapped parking is available, but your car must display a handicapped placard or plate. The walk from the parking lot to the Visitor Center is approximately 379 feet down a graded wheelchair accessible ramp. Handicapped restrooms are available in the Visitor Center.

Can you get food and drinks at the event?

Food and beverages are available to purchase before the performance and during the performance in the party scene.

How long is the performance?

The performances last one hour.

Are service dogs permitted at the event?

Yes, service dogs are welcome. Pets are not allowed.
