Assistant Buyer

With national visibility and local accolades as the tri-state area’s top source for family friendly entertainment, Historic Hudson Valley (www.hudsonvalley.org) educates and entertains more than 300,000 visitors a year through our school programs, house tours, and large-scale special events like the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze and Horseman’s Hollow.

Historic Hudson Valley seeks an experienced, results driven individual to assist the Associate Director of Retail Operations achieve operational and sales goals in a fast-paced retail environment.

The  Assistant Buyer will support merchandise strategy and assist with product selection; coordinate book signings; analyze sales trends; track shipments, deliveries and transfers; supervise Stockroom Associate; manage all administrative aspects of inventory; effectively communicate product knowledge to retail staff; and set a professional  example for staff, visitors and vendors.

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills with knowledge of retail math and retail systems; clear and effective written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills; knowledge of point of sale systems; proficiency with MS Office suite including advanced EXCEL experience and be in good physical condition in order to move and manage inventory.  A Bachelor’s degree in retail merchandizing, marketing, business or a related field, a valid driver’s license, and five years of retail experience is required.

This is a full-time, seasonal (April through December) position. Evening, weekend, and holiday hours are required in support of programs and events.
