Guides for Kykuit, the Rockefeller Estate

With national visibility and local accolades as the tri-state area’s top source for robust and entertaining educational experiences, Historic Hudson Valley (www.hudsonvalley.org) welcomes more than 300,000 visitors a year to our school programs, large-scale special events, and tours of historic properties.

Historic Hudson Valley, Westchester County’s largest cultural organization, seeks hard-working, enthusiastic, outgoing Guides for Kykuit, the Rockefeller estate.  Guides will provide meaningful, accurate interpretation of this National Historic Landmark, a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Guides will also have the opportunity to work at the Union Church, the country parish of the Rockefeller family and home to stunning stained glass windows by Marc Chagall and Henri Matisse.

These are part-time, seasonal positions that offer and require a lot of flexibility. All applicants must be able to commit to working for the entire run of the season (April-November) and must be available for weekend, holiday, and evening shifts. Summertime-only positions are not available. During the months of May and June, applicants must be available for mandatory training two days each week, including one week day and one weekend day. A week day commitment is not required after training is successfully completed.

You must be high energy, in good physical condition, and be able to work outdoors in all kinds of weather. Teaching and/or hospitality experience are plusses, as is an interest or background in history or art.

In this role, you will be giving tours and guiding the public through Kykuit and the Union Church, and you will also be working on our exciting roster of daytime and nighttime special events, including The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze and Horseman’s Hollow.
