Senior Event Production Supervisor

With national visibility and local accolades as the tri-state area’s top source for family friendly entertainment, Historic Hudson Valley (www.hudsonvalley.org) educates and entertains more than 300,000 visitors a year through school programs, historic site tours, and large-scale special events.

Historic Hudson Valley seeks an experienced event production professional to join the team responsible for producing events including The Great Jack O’ Lantern Blaze, Horseman’s Hollow, and The Sleepy Hollow Experience.  Reporting to the Director of Event Production, the candidate will help to plan, organize, and manage large-scale outdoor events.  Responsibilities include developing work plans, schedules, and material lists; coordinating the efforts of contracted vendors; training and orienting staff; leading teams in event set up and take down; ensuring the maintenance of safe workplace practices and conditions; serving as a manager on duty during event operation; and maintaining Historic Hudson Valley’s high-level hospitality and customer service standards.

This full-time position requires weekend and holiday availability, as well as potential assignment at tri-state area locations beyond Westchester County.  Requirements include 5 or more years’ experience managing large-scale events; a BA in theater design, stagecraft, event management, or a related field; basic carpentry skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; and a valid driver’s license.  The successful candidate will be flexible, highly organized, self-motivated, able to re-prioritize in a fast-paced environment, and able to think creatively to address logistical issues.  Candidates must be in good physical condition, able to do occasional heavy lifting, and work indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather.  Additional physical requirements include:

  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, stoop, kneel, reach, push, pull, twist, lift in any direction for sustained periods of time
  • Must be able to routinely climb/descend stairs and ladders
  • Must be able to read and interpret written material and instructions
  • Must be able to communicate (i.e. clearly express and exchange ideas) by voice and detect sound by ear (e.g. receive detail information and make fine discriminations in sound)
