Pinkster Comes to Philipsburg Manor on Sunday, May 17, 2009

Pinkster Celebration

The Spring Festival known as “Pinkster,” celebrated in the Hudson River Valley as early as the 17th century, presents a rousing Colonial style celebration of Spring with a compelling program for families. On May 17, experience the only authentic recreation of this 18th-century African-Dutch celebration of Spring at Philipsburg Manor, a property of Historic Hudson Valley.

Enjoy a grand parade with the Pinkster King, storytelling, hands-on activities, crafts and demonstrations, colonial and ethnic foods, drumming, audience participation, African dance forms, and an invitation to participate in 18th-century dancing.
