The
Spring Festival known as Pinkster, celebrated
in the Hudson River Valley as early as the 17th century,
presents
a rousing Colonial style celebration of Spring with a compelling
program for families. On May 17, experience the only authentic
recreation of this 18th-century African-Dutch celebration
of Spring at Philipsburg
Manor, a property of Historic
Hudson Valley.
Enjoy a grand parade with the Pinkster King,
storytelling, hands-on activities, crafts and demonstrations,
colonial and ethnic foods, drumming, audience participation,
African dance forms, and an invitation to participate in 18th-century
dancing.
