A repository of awe-inspiring art by Matisse & Chagall

Stained-glass windows by European masters, commissioned by the Rockefeller family, adorn this unassuming country church. Henri Matisse’s last commissioned work, the Rose Window, and nine windows by Marc Chagall create a dramatic combination of light and color, art and spirituality. Step inside and be inspired.

A special exhibit at the nearby David Rockefeller Creative Arts Center, Sketching Light: Chagall’s Windows for Union Church, offers a rare glimpse into the creative process of renowned artist Marc Chagall (1887–1985). The exhibit runs through May 17, 2025, and is open Thursdays through Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

This winter and spring, Union Church will also be open on select Saturdays, allowing visitors to experience the exhibit alongside Chagall’s stunning windows. Self-paced tours of the church will be available January 18 and
February 15, from 10am-3pm; and March 15 and April 19, from 10am-3:30pm.
